About the creator

Philipp Amrein

MRI hardware engineer · Creator of CoilGen

I work on RF and gradient coils, electromagnetic modeling, and the numerical optimization of winding patterns.

I created and maintain CoilGen to connect physical field targets and support geometry with coil-layout generation and evaluation.

Selected software work

From numerical methods
to an engineering workflow.

Two stages of the CoilGen project, with a shared focus on physical models, winding geometry and reproducible evaluation.

01

CoilGen

Connecting surface currents to winding layouts

Support meshes and stream-function solutions form the starting point. Contour topology and interconnections turn those solutions into winding paths whose fields and electrical properties can be evaluated.

A Python API and scientific workbench

The current Python development brings editable projects, constrained optimization, intrinsic topology and conductor geometry into a class-based API and Qt/VTK workbench. Field, electrical and geometry diagnostics support review at each design stage.
